Boardwalk Reconstruction Project In Ocean City Complete

The project was finished in time for Palm Sunday and Easter, Mayor Jay Gillian said on Friday.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Boardwalk reconstruction project is finished in time for Palm Sunday, Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian announced on Friday. Easter marks the beginning of the year’s special events in Ocean City.

“Schiavone Construction is finishing a punch list of items, and I want to thank their entire team for doing a quality job,” Gillian said. “From sand to railings, the entire boardwalk between Fifth Street and 12th Street has been rebuilt.”

The goal of the project was to replace the boardwalk between Fifth Street and 12th Street. All four phases of the project were carried out by Fred M. Schiavone Construction. Southern yellow pine was used for the decking.

“I want to thank all of the boardwalk merchants, runners, bikers and walkers who have put up with the detours and closings over the past five off-seasons,” Gillian said. “This important investment will ensure that the boardwalk is ready to serve new generations of Ocean City residents and visitors.”
