Body Found On Jersey Shore Beach: Police

The man was found unconscious and unresponsive on the Wildwood Crest beach Tuesday morning, police said.

WILDWOOD CREST, NJ — An investigation is underway after police discovered a man's body on a beach Tuesday morning in Wildwood Crest, according to authorities.

Police were called to the beach at Myrtle Road at 6:20 a.m. on July 2 for the report of an unconscious and unresponsive man, according to a news release.

When officers arrived, the person who called 911 was performing CPR on the man. But the life-saving measures were stopped and he was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

The man's identity has not been released, but police said next of kin has been notified.

His cause of death is under investigation and is pending an autopsy. The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office and the New Jersey Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office are assisting with the investigation.

However, no foul play is suspected and there is no threat to the public, police said.
