Body Of Missing Wildwood Swimmer Found

Officials recovered the body of Alfred Williams, 19, in Wildwood Crest after he went missing in Wildwood last week.

WILDWOOD, NJ — The body of Alfred Williams, 19, was recovered in the early hours of June 4, after he went missing last week, officials announced.

Williams, from Drexel Hill, PA, was found at Palm Road and the beach in Wildwood Crest, Wildwood Crest police and City of Wildwood police announced in a joint release.

Williams went missing on May 31 off of the coast of a Wildwood beach where he was swimming with three others. The others made it safely to shore, but Williams remained missing. Read More: Search Suspended For Missing Wildwood Swimmer At Unguarded Beach

Local and state police, fire departments, the Coast Guard and off-duty lifeguards assisted in searching for Williams last week.

The family was informed of Williams' recovery, officials said. The Medical Examiner's Office assisted with the investigation, officials said.

"Chief Robert Lloyd of the Wildwood Crest Police Department and Chief Robert Regalbuto of the Wildwood Police Department extend their deepest condolences to Mr. Williams family and friends," police said.

Police again reminded swimmers to only enter the water on protected beaches while lifeguards are on duty.
