Bombing Of Hiroshima, Nagasaki To Be Remembered In Ocean City
Amnesty International South Jersey will remember the 73rd anniversary of the bombings on Monday at the Bayside Center.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — Amnesty International South Jersey will commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the Hiroshima — Nagasaki bombing with an event in Ocean City next week.
It takes place on Monday, Aug. 6, 7 p.m., 73 years to the day after the American bomber Enola Gay dropped a five-ton bomb over the Japanese city of Hiroshima in 1945.
Three days later, another bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. Some estimates put the number of dead at up to 300,000. These two events have a lasting impact, and serve as the only time a nation has used nuclear weapons against another country.
