This annual event sponsored by Ocean City, the Chamber of Commerce, and the OC Lifeguards, marks the opening of the ocean for the summer season. Come celebrate with us! A group of us Friends will brave the still-icy waters to make a rather fashionable splash in our vintage swimwear. There will thrills! Chills! Snacks! And after, you can get a free drink at The Flanders Hotel Coffee Shop if you go there in your wet vintage bathing suit! Vintage suits are available for purchase ($25). The <a href="https://memorialbeachchallenge.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Memorial Beach Challenge</a>&nbsp;consists of a soft-sand Obstacle Course Challenge—featuring Navy SEAL-approved obstacles on a two-mile stretch on the shoreline and a Kids Fun Run.&nbsp;The Obstacle Course is a test of physical and mental toughness and the challenge is open to both individual racers and teams of up to four.&nbsp;The Kids Fun Run is specially designed to let children be a part of the day's fun in support of heroes and their families. All the funds raised support 31Heroes, a non-profit organization founded after the tragedy of August 6, 2011. In a single instance, America lost 30 military service members and one U.S. military K-9– when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, call sign Extortion 17, was downed in Afghanistan. The mission of 31Heroes&nbsp;is to raise money and awareness through social and athletic events to support the families of Extortion 17 and honor their legacy by funding treatment for Veterans suffering from mental health issues.

Annual Yard Sale for the Cape May Lutheran Church Women will be held on May 29th from 9am till 2 pm and again on May 30th from 9 am till 12 (Noon). It is held at 509 Pittsburgh Avenue, Cape May. Items that will be available for purchase is the following: Homemade baked goods, Big selection of Jewelry, Clothing, Children's toys, Children's books, Handbags, Household items, Tools, and 6 Inch Hoagies. St. Peter's United Methodist Church

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 81, is offering its Boat America boating safety class on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The class will be held at St. Peter's United Methodist Church, located at 8th St. and Central Ave. in Ocean City. The course begins at 8:30 AM and runs to 5:00 PM. The cost of the course is $65.00, which includes all training materials. Lunch will not be provided but you can bring your own (we will take a&nbsp;short 30-minute break for lunch).&nbsp;This will be the last class scheduled for 2026. Class size is limited, so please register as soon as possible. Boat America is the Auxiliary's basic safe boating class. New Jersey law requires all operators of power boats complete an approved boating safety class as a requirement for obtaining a NJ Boating Safety Certificate. This course will provide the knowledge necessary to obtain that certification, and includes the proctored exam.
