Indigo Girls Across four decades, 16 studio albums, and over 15 million records sold, Indigo Girls continue to blaze the trail for generations of Queer artists in the mainstream. The Grammy-winning duo of Emily Saliers and Amy Ray began their career in clubs and bars around their native Atlanta, GA amidst a blossoming alternative music scene before signing to Epic Records in 1988. Indigo Girls’ eponymous major label debut sold over two million copies under the power of singles “Closer to Fine” and “Kid Fears” and introduced the duo’s signature harmonies and powerful, sophisticated songs to a dedicated, enduring global audience. Indigo Girls was the first of six consecutive Gold and/or Platinum-certified albums. Their latest record, Look Long, is a stirring and eclectic collection of songs that finds the duo reunited in the studio with their strongest backing band to date. “We joke about being old, but what is old when it comes to music? We’re still a bar band at heart,” says Saliers. “While our lyrics and writing approach may change, our passion for music feels the same as it did when we were 25 years old.”
Committed and uncompromising activists, Saliers and Ray work on issues like racial justice and reproductive rights (Project Say Something), immigration reform (El Refugio), LGBTQ advocacy, education (Imagination Library), death penalty reform, and Native American rights (First Peoples Fund).
“As time has gone on, our audience has become more expansive and diverse, giving me a sense of joy,” says Saliers. Recently, “Closer to Fine” featured prominently in Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster film Barbie and introduced Indigo Girls’ music to a new generation of listeners. Released in 2024, their critically-acclaimed documentary Indigo Girls: It’s Only Life After All (directed by Alexandria Bombach) blends 40 years of home movies, raw film archive, and intimate present-day verité into a heartfelt career retrospective. A New York Times Critic’s Pick, the documentary premiered opening night at the Sundance Film Festival in 2023 and went on to screen at SXSW, Tribeca Film Festival, and Hot Docs before releasing to Netflix.
While Rolling Stone describes them as “ideal duet partners,” Indigo Girls’ live performances aren’t so much duets as they are community experiences—massive group singalongs together with their audience. To hear those collective voices raise into one, singing along and overpowering the band itself, one realizes the importance Indigo Girls’ music has in this moment. In our often-terrifying present, we are all in search of a daily refuge, a stolen hour or two, to engage with something that brings us joy, perspective, or maybe just calm. With their signature dance moves and unmistakable harmonies, they rose to the top of the charts creating an amazing 42 Top Ten Hits with 14 reaching number one. Just a few of their classic hits that transcends all demographics – “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” and so many more. Otis Williams is the original and founding member of The Temptations – through the good times and the bad. He is the key to their history and their stories – how they met, their groundbreaking heights, personal and political conflicts, brotherhood, family, loyalty and more. As the leader and collaborator, he has set the direction and tone for the Temptations through their transitions from the 60s to now. The group’s popularity is ever- increasing, as they are one of the most iconic, bestselling brands in the world today. The demand for the Temptations grows as each generation discovers them. Most recently, New York Mets star player Francisco Lindor chose “My Girl” as his walk-up song. The song resonated prompting the crowd at Citi Field to sing even after he reached the plate. This resulted in the Mets inviting the Temptations to perform the National Anthem and sing for the crowd at Game 5 of the National League Championship Series. This kicked off a series of television and personal appearances that hasn’t stopped. Marking the 60th anniversary of “My Girl,” the Temptations first #1 hit, The Temptations kicked off their official celebration in November in grand style atop Wonder float at the 98th Macy’s Day Parade thrilling the crowds along the parade route as well as millions of television viewers. In between their touring schedule, they made whirlwind stops in Los Angeles and New York for national television appearances including CNN’s Thanksgiving Special, The Today Show, The View, The Sherri Shephard Show, The Motown Christmas Special, CBS Early Show, Access Hollywood, ET, and Extra. More TV appearances are scheduled throughout the year but have not been announced yet. At every show, they meet multi-generational fans who tell them time after time, that The Temptations is a group that everyone can enjoy. And proving the point, “My Girl” officially hit one billion Spotify streams putting them among only 1000 other artists to reach this milestone. “My Girl” celebrates several 60th anniversary chart milestones this year – No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot Rhythm &amp; Blues, No. 1 single on the Billboard Pop charts, No. 1 on R&amp;B chart, and #35 on the Billboard Top 200 (Pop) chart. Continuing to create new music for their fans, The Temptations are working on a new project this year as their last album of newly written material, Temptations 60, was released in 2022. The Temptations’ heritage, influence and contributions to, not only American culture and African American communities but also to the global music landscape are monumental. The influence that The Temptations had on mainstream and global artists, such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and others, is undeniable. The smash hit musical, Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations, is based on the autobiography of Otis Williams. The musical captivated thousands of theatergoers with sold-out Broadway performances breaking house records and is currently touring throughout the U.S. It originally opened on Broadway in 2019 to critical acclaim and received 12 Tony nominations winning the Tony Award for Best Choreography and was nominated for a Grammy® Award in the “Best Musical Theater Album” category. The national touring production completed their 50+ city tour as well as their production in the West End at the Prince Edward Theatre, U.K. Motown auditioned and signed the original Temptations (Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks, and Elbridge “Al” Bryant) in May of 1961. When the legendary “Classic Five,” (Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams and David Ruffin) released the single, “The Way You Do the Things You Do,” in 1964, which peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and remained on the list for 11 weeks, it marked the beginning of a multitude of award-winning and chart-topping singles and albums that would be embraced by popular music audiences globally. Considered trailblazers in the 60’s, leading the way not only for themselves but for other R&amp;B artists, and successfully reaching mainstream audiences here and abroad, The Temptations’ rise to fame was meteoric. It was on March 6, 1965 that their first million copy, bestselling single, “My Girl” hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

Presented by the City of Ocean City10,000 Maniacs – 45 Years of Timeless Music One of the most influential bands to emerge from the alternative-rock scene, 10,000 Maniacs have captivated audiences for over four decades with their poetic lyrics, lush melodies, and unforgettable live performances. Since forming in Jamestown, NY, in 1981, the group has evolved from indie trailblazers to platinum-selling pioneers, selling more than 10 million records worldwide and helping shape the sound of alternative rock. The band broke through with 1987’s In My Tribe, which stayed on the charts for 77 weeks and produced the classics “Like the Weather” and “What’s the Matter Here?”. They followed with platinum albums Blind Man’s Zoo and Our Time in Eden, featuring fan favorites “Trouble Me,” “Candy Everybody Wants,” and “These Are Days.” Their MTV Unplugged performance, including the hit “Because the Night,” sold over four million copies and remains a landmark moment in ‘90s music. Led today by the powerful voice and viola of Mary Ramsey alongside founding members Jerome Augustyniak (drums), John Lombardo (guitar), Dennis Drew (keyboards), and Steven Gustafson (bass), the Maniacs continue to bring their rich songbook to life onstage with passion and authenticity.
