Cape Assist and CMCHCC Announces 2023's Youth PSA Contest
Cape Assist and the Cape May County Healthy Community Coalition's 2023 PSA Contest Calls on Youth to Creatively Address Community Concerns

Wildwood, NJ - Cape Assist and the Cape May County Healthy Community Coalition (HCC) have announced the topics for this year’s annual PSA contest and are officially accepting submissions. Youth from grades K-12 are invited to write essays, record videos, or create art addressing public issues younger generations are currently facing and promote staying substance-free, valuing diversity, and meaningful connections and relationships.
Themes for this year’s contest are:
- Let’s Connect: Speak on the importance of relationships and connection in the modern world.
- Above the Influence: Talk about saying no to substances like alcohol, marijuana, and nicotine.
- Dear Me: Think about the advice they would give their younger self and how their decisions now affect their future.
- Valuing Diversity: This topic should focus on the power of diversity in our world. We know that it is a beautiful strength that we are lucky to enjoy.
The HCC, a community initiative of Cape Assist that promotes the education and prevention of substance misuse in Cape May County, has been running the PSA contest for over a decade.

“It’s not only a time to showcase creativity, but also problem solving,” said Natalia Leusner, CMC Healthy Community Coalition (HCC) Coordinator. “We get to see students effectively express their thoughts on current issues surrounding youth in our community as well as provide us, adults, teachers, mentors, trainers, and other community members, with a better understanding of how to reach our youth with messages of support.”
Projects can be created and submitted using platforms from a 300-word (maximum) essay to a 60-second (maximum) video or even an art piece. All submissions require parental consent. Submissions should be emailed to www.cmchcc.org/psa. The deadline for submissions is March 23.
