Cape Assist Creates a Bright Tribute for the Holidays

Wildwood, NJ – Cape Assist has once again brought light to the night with their annual Trees of Hope Ceremony. This year, the organization set up sixteen Christmas trees transformed with lights in support of those who have been affected by addiction. The trees and ornaments are meant to serve as a visual representation honoring those in recovery, those still battling, and those lost to addictions.

The lighting ceremony took place on the first of the month, which marks the start of the tree illumination period - continuing through December. The ever-growing annual tradition is one of remembrance but also one of positivity. Families, friends and members of the community were able to dedicate ornaments and sponsor trees in honor of their loved ones. With the support and sponsorship of organizations like Ocean Inc., Cape Assist continues to bring in more and more trees to the special occasion each year.

“Many of us are aware that the holidays can be hard for those struggling with addiction and families who have lost loved ones to it,” said Cape Assist’s Executive Director Katie Faldetta. “These trees help honor those who passed and embolden people now to keep fighting. We hope they remind everyone of this one fact: they are not alone.”

Dozens of families, friends, and fellow organizations came to the ceremony in solidarity. Missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Elders Roylance and Larsen, offered the opening prayer to commence the ceremony. These were followed by words from Cape Assist Executive Director Katie Faldetta.

The trees and ornaments will be available for dedication throughout the month of December. Dedicated ornaments can be picked up on January 4th or January 5th at Cape Assist. For more information about the event or to dedicate a tree or ornament, visit www.capeassist.org/toh.
