Cape Assist Executive Director Receives Community Recognition

Wildwood, NJ - Cape Assist’s Executive Director Katie Faldetta received recognition by the Cape May Mental Health, Alcohol & Drug Abuse Board (MHADA) for her work in behavioral health in Cape May County. The award was also given to two other individuals in the county who have positively impacted the community with their dedication to health and wellness.

Faldetta has been the Executive Director of Cape Assist since 2016 and has been working closely with the organization since 2003. Dedicated to helping those suffering from mental health issues and drug misuse, it’s been her leadership that Cape Assist has been able to grow as a leading prevention organization in the state and help those of Cape May County and beyond.

Under Faldetta’s guidance, Cape Assist’s programs and funding has expanded exponentially to tackle new issues and utilize the latest research in prevention. From the cofounding of the Coastal Preparatory High School for recovery in 2019 to incorporating the research on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) into their youth programming, Cape Assist is constantly innovating their work on teaching advocacy and resiliency. The organization is always developing and growing their repertoire of workshops and in-person and hybrid events to effectively reach the community and educate all residents about the steps to prevention early.

“It’s an honor to receive this award from the board. It recognizes the hard work that not only I, but every member of Cape Assist puts in daily,” said Faldetta. “Prevention begins with advocacy, community, and education. Our work is always for the Cape May community, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Alongside Faldetta, Kyle Lindholm, founder of the Upper Township First Responder’s Youth Camp, and Sandra Lockhart and Terri Mascione of The Branches Outreach Center in Rio Grande received recognition for improving lives in the county.
