Cape Assist Lighting the Night at the Annual Tree of Hope Event

Wildwood - Cape Assist once again lit the night in support of those who have been touched by addiction. On the evening of December 2nd, the Annual Tree of Hope dedication event honored those who are celebrating recovery, those struggling with addictions, and those who have lost their battle against addiction with a tree lighting ceremony and ornament dedication.

Community members had the opportunity to dedicate a tree and/or ornament to honor or memorialize their loved one. A total of 18 trees illuminated the lot just outside of Cape Assist’s doors, which will now become a visual representation of hope for the rest of the holiday season to anyone continuing to fight for sobriety, as well as be a shining light of remembrance to those who succumbed to their battle with addiction.

“As many of us know, the holidays can be a difficult time for many people attempting to fill the emptiness of family members who may not be able to or are no longer here to join in the celebrations,” said Cape Assist’s executive director Katie Faldetta. “This event is meant to help these community members find some joy in the season again.”

Numerous people and county organizations gathered outside for this ceremony, just one of the many opportunities Cape Assist provides as community support during the holiday season. Elder Miller and Elder Ware from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints lead the event with an opening prayer.

For those who dedicated ornaments, they will be available for pick-up after the New Year. Trees and ornaments will still be available for dedication throughout the month of December. Contact Cape Assist for more information, toh@capeassist.org.
