Cape Assist Offers $300 Incentive for Completing Military Workshop

Wildwood, NJ – Starting Monday, Feb. 27, a hallmark program of Cape Assist returns: Military Strengthening Families (MSFP). With the focus back on in-person sessions, Cape Assist is offering $300 gift cards to families who attend at least 12 of the 14 sessions.

The origin program, Strengthening Families (SFP), has been a part of Cape Assist’s roster for over a decade and aims to help teach families about evidence-based effective parenting skills, refusal, and youth life. While there, parents and children get the chance to break into workshops alone and then come back together for group lessons, as well as enjoy a meal provided by the organization.

Specifically, during the Military Strengthening Families Program, the lessons, workshops, and skills are all geared towards families of active service members and veterans. Topics like long distance communication and more are discussed across the hour-and-a-half long sessions in this internationally acclaimed workshop series. The youth workshops cater to children ages 3-6 and include lessons on decision-making and clear communication.

“We have seen these workshops help families overcome internal struggles, bring them closer together, and even provide a fun and informative evening of bonding,” says Katie Faldetta, executive director of Cape Assist. “They are a fantastic opportunity to talk through issues, as well as learn through fellow parents and professionals who have already gone through it. Helping families learn and grow together is what we are all about at Cape Assist; we know prevention and information is key for helping community members lead happier lives.”

Open to all Cape May County families, sessions will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 to5:30 p.m. for seven weeks at the Cape May Elementary School. Attendees must sign up by Feb. 24 at capeassist.org/msfp to participate in these free workshops and be eligible for the $300 incentive. For those accompanied by young children, FREE childcare will be available during all sessions leaving parents and older siblings open to participate.
