Cape May Co. Pizzeria Owner Imprisoned For False Tax Returns
The owner of a Wildwood Crest pizzeria was sentenced to 15 months in prison for filing false returns during tax years 2012-16.
WILDWOOD CREST, NJ — The owner of a Wildwood Crest pizzeria was sentenced Wednesday to 15 months in prison for filing income tax returns. Giuseppe D’Arancio previously pleaded guilty to filing five false returns for tax years 2012-16.
D'Arancio and an unnamed individual owned and operated Sal's Pizza and kept two sets of accounting books, according to authorities. For tax years 2012-16, D'Arancio underreported the pizzeria's taxable income by $1.2 million.
As a result, the owner failed to pay more than $425,000 in income taxes.

D'Arancio was also sentenced to one year of supervised release and must pay $507,246 to the Internal Revenue Service.
