Cape May County To Begin Drive-Thru Coronavirus Testing

CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ — Cape May County will open a drive-thru testing site for the novel coronavirus. Officials will only disclose the location to people approved for testing because of confidentiality.

The County Health Department will open the site in conjunction with CompleteCare Health Network. Patients must have an appointment for the site, which will be open once a week.

The site is only open for CompleteCare patients and county residents sick with a fever, cough and shortness of breath that meet a certain criteria. To receive testing, go to CompleteCareNJ.org/COVID19 or call 609-465-0258 and request to be screened.

The test will be free, and no co-pay is required for the screening. Symptomatic first responders will get first priority.

County officials reported 53 total cases as of 4 p.m. Friday. Ocean City has one active case and one recovery. Thirteen patients have recovered in the county, and no deaths have been recorded.

People with the coronavirus also might not show symptoms, according to the Center for Disease Control. With limited testing available nationwide, it is also difficult to gauge the true number of people with the virus.
