Cape May County Man Made Threats About Mass Shooting on Social Media: Police
Jake Freeman was arrested early Friday morning after police allege he made the threats Thursday evening.

A Cape May County man has been charged with false public alarm after police he say posted threats on social media about conducting a mass shooting.
Jake M. Freeman, 20, of North Wildwood, was arrested in the early morning hours Friday after authorities said he posted threats via Facebook on Thursday evening.
Wildwood Police received the information, and after learning where Freeman was, notified North Wildwood Police.

North Wildwood Police and the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office High Tech Crimes Unit and Major Crimes Unit then handled the investigation.
Freeman was arrested, and his bail was set at $250,000.

Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor said that in today’s environment, threats made on social media will be taken seriously and the Prosecutor's Office will prosecute individuals involved in making these threats to the fullest extent of the law.
Taylor also urges anyone who has information concerning threats on social media or any other illegal activity to contact the Prosecutor’s Office at 609-465-1135, or anonymously by texting the Cape May County Sheriff’s Tip Line at cmcsheriff.net and click on the anonymous tip.
