Cape May County Man Sentenced for Child Porn Possession

A Cape May County man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for r possessing images and videos of child sexual abuse, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said on Tuesday.

Jeffrey Spicer, 45, of West Wildwood, previously pleaded guilty to an information charging him with one count of knowingly possessing child pornography.

He must also serve 10 years supervised release and he must pay $7,200 in restitution.

Spicer admitted that he possessed images and videos of child sexual abuse on electronic and digital media that were seized from his house during the execution of a search warrant on March 19, 2014, according to documents filed in the case and statements made in court.

Spicer had images on his cell phone, which he saved by taking screenshot photos, according to the results of a forensics investigation.

The investigation also revealed he was using a password-protected “app” on his cell phone to store the child pornography.

Fishman credited special agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Terence S. Opiola; the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor; the Lower Township Police Department, under the direction of Chief William Mastriana; and the West Wildwood Police Department, under the direction of Chief Jackie Ferentz, with the investigation leading to today’s sentencing.
