CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ — The Cape May County Zoo has a new creature. A red panda named Benjamin joined the zoo last week.

Benjamin was born at the Philadelphia Zoo but took a detour to the Sacramento Zoo. He is undergoing a quarantine period and recovering from jet leg, the zoo says. But soon you'll be able to see Benjamin.

Red pandas are listed as endangered. There are less than 10,000 left, the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species reported in 2015. They're roughly the size of a household cat. And they are part of the superfamily Musteloidea along with the weasel, raccoon and sunk. They aren't closely related to the giant panda.
