Car Fire Halts Traffic On 9th Street Bridge In Ocean City: Police
Traffic was shut down for about 20 minutes and a woman was treated for smoke inhalation on the scene.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The 9th Street Bridge into Ocean City was shut down when a car caught fire shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Ocean City police and fire responded to the Route 52 Causeway at about 12;42 p.m. when a woman reported her Chevy Trailblazer caught fire on her way onto the island, according to the Ocean City Police Department.
She noticed smoke coming from the engine area of the vehicle, so she stopped and got out, police said. Vehicle traffic in both directions was closed for about 20 minutes while the Ocean City Fire Department put out the fire.

Police believe a mechanical failure caused the fire. The woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. The vehicle was severely damaged by the fire and had to be towed from the scene. The fire is under investigation by Ocean City Fire Department.
