Cinnaminson Wrestling Team Captures School's 1st Sectional Title

The Pirates defeated Point Pleasant Beach, 55-18, for the Central Jersey title Friday night.

The Cinnaminson High School wrestling team captured its first sectional crown in dominant fashion Friday night, defeating Point Pleasant Beach, 55-18.

The Pirates clinched the title with a pinfall victory by Zach Sireci at 182 pounds after the Pirates opened the match with four consecutive victories, according to the Burlington County Times.

Kevin Schoch opened the match with a major decision at 106, followed by pinfall wins by Isaiah Elias, Jarrod Averill and Ryan Teague.

It is the first wrestling championship for a high school out of Burlington County since 1992, according to nj.com.

Cinnaminson improved to 24-1, and will face undefeated South Jersey Group I champion Paulsboro (24-0) in the state semifinals in Trenton on Sunday.
