OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City residents may need to take extra precautions when going to the voting booth, as the weather may present a problem. A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for Ocean City on Tuesday, Nov. 7, according to the National Weather Service. The advisory is in effect through 2 p.m.
The advisory is in effect for Cape May and Atlantic counties, as well as southeastern Burlington, Sussex and the Delaware beaches. Minor flooding is expected around high tide.
Water levels are expected to peak in the hours around high tide on the bay side of Ocean City at about 10:12 a.m., according to a special weather statement issued by city officials. Forecasters predict a tide that could approach 6 feet on the mean low water scale, which is about the same level Ocean City experienced on Sunday. Steady northeast winds could contribute to the flooding.

Residents and guests are asked to closely monitor the forecast and weather conditions. Owners should be prepared to move vehicles from areas that typically experience flooding. The roads closer to the beach, including Central and Wesley avenues, are typically at higher elevation. These roads also offer the safest routes of travel across the length of the island.
Tides are expected to approach about the same level during high tide at about 11:09 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8. See chart of Ocean City tides for further context.
