Comic-Con and Girls Weekend Highlight Weekend of Firsts in Ocean City

Both events are Saturday and Sunday, April 9-10. Girls Weekend has a fashion show kickoff Friday night.

Ocean City, NJ -- This weekend brings a pair of inaugural events to Ocean City.

The OC-Con Comic Book and Memorabilia Show is Saturday and Sunday, April 9-10. Girls Weekend is the same dates, with a special kickoff fashion show Friday night, April 8.

OC-Con at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, will give the public the opportunity to meet with comic book illustrators including Ron Wilson at discussion sessions. There will be comic creators from Disney Films, Marvel Comics, Archie Comics, DC Comics and many more.

Members of the 501st Legion of “Star Wars” fame will be in attendance both days.

On Sunday, the public can participate in or watch a Cosplay (costume contest) at 2 p.m. at the Music Pier.

A “Super Hero Run” kicks off the weekend’s festivities at 9 a.m. on Saturday, followed by a “Super Hero Obstacle Dash” at noon. Register for the race events at www.ocnj.us/Race-Events.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under. Two day admission is $8 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

Girls Weekend is the brain child of the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Merchants Association.

The ladies will be offered an array of specialties on Asbury Avenue, including dining specials, shopping discounts, table sales, fashion show, yoga, wellness classes, craft projects, demonstrations and more.

The weekend begins with a kickoff fashion show at 7 p.m. on Friday night, April 8, at Glazed Over Studio, 704 Asbury Avenue. It will include light fare and refreshments, and is $20 per person.

Tickets are available at the Sneaker Shop, the 7th Street Surf Shop, Ta-Dah and Ocean City Welcome Centers at City Hall and the Route 52 causeway.
