County Superintendent Picks Ocean City School Board Vice President

After the board deadlocked in a vote for vice president, the Cape May County superintendent has appointed Joseph Clark to the role.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — After the Board of Education deadlocked during their vote for vice president at their reorganization meeting, the Cape May County superintendent has chosen one.

Joseph Clark will serve as vice president under the school board's new president Chris Halliday, according to the district. Clark also served as vice president in 2022.

Cecilia Gallelli-Keyes and Fran Newman were both nominated to serve as vice president at the board's reorganization meeting, and after three rounds of voting, the board was deadlocked with both women receiving six votes. Both congratulated Clark on the appointment in interviews with OCNJ Daily.

Halliday and Clark also expressed that they were looking forward to working closely with each other, according to the outlet.

Clark's seat on the board is up for election this year, and he will not be seeking re-election, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

The Ocean City Board of Education meets next on Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.
