Darker Version Of 'Peter Pan' Takes Center Stage In Ocean City

"Peter/Wendy" takes over the Ocean City Music Pier this weekend.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Theatre Company presents its lyrical, atmospheric interpretation of “Peter Pan” with “Peter/Wendy” at the Ocean City Music Pier this weekend. Jeremy Bloom strips the familiar story down to its emotional essence and pays homage to J.M Barrie's darker themes in this production which features students in 6th – 12th grades under the direction of Kirsten Sughure.

Peter is the mischievous hero unwilling to grow up. Wendy is the girl awoken in the middle of the night ready to escape into a world of fantasy. Adventure is awaiting those who are able to let go of reality and listen to the child within. All it takes is a happy thought and they lift you up into the air and onto adventure.

Over 15 students from Brigantine, Linwood, Somers Point, Upper Township, Middle Township and Ocean City have had the chance to work on a very artistic version of a show that is usually very much a spectacle. It is commonly referred to as a “barebones Neverland.”
