Deadline To Register For Ocean City Triathlon/Duathlon Extended

The event is set for Sunday, May 20.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The deadline to apply for this year’s Ocean City Triathlon/Duathlon has been extended through May 18, city officials announced. The event takes place on Sunday, May 20. The quarter-mile swim for entrants in the triathlon runs from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. The 2-mile run/16-mile bike/2-mile run for duathlon and triathlon entrants gets underway at 9 a.m.

Applications are $55 for the triathlon and $50 for the duathlon. A family of four can register for $120. Families of four consist of two adults and two children who live in the same household. Four entry forms must be mailed in one pack.

All fees include a t-shirt, and is non-refundable. The triathlon is limited to the first 120 entries. Helmets are required for the bike race. Packets will be available for pick-up the day of the race only. All entrants have the chance to win raffle prizes. Prizes will be awarded to those who finish first, second and third, overall and in each age group. Age groups are as follows: 14 - 16, 17 - 19, 20 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60 - 69, 70+

There is also a kids course, which is a 1-mile run, 8-mile bike, 1-mile run duathlon, with a 1/8 mile swim added for the triathlon. Kids fee is $25, and age groups are: 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13.

For the swimming portion, a quarter-mile is 16 lengths in a 25-meter pool, and a 1/8 mile is eight lengths in a 25-meter pool. Information on the race course can be found below:

First 2-Mile Run: From starting line headed east to boardwalk on boardwalk north to 12th Street turn around and back to transition area.

Kids 1-Mile Run: to 17th Street Water Station turn around.

16-Mile Bike: A 2-loop course. Leave from transition area east to West Avenue turn south to 53rd Street turn around and back (twice).

Kids 8-Mile: 1 loop course. 18th Street to 53rd Street turn around and back to transition.

Second 2-Mile Run: From transition head south on Haven Avenue straight ahead to 27th Street turn around. Then straight back to the finishline on Haven Avenue.

Kids 1-Mile Run: Out of transition south on Haven Ave to 22nd Street (water station) and back to finish line.
