OCEAN CITY, NJ — If you've got old and unneeded medication taking up space in your medicine cabinets, now's the time to dispose of them. Two locations are partaking in the DEA's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 22.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., bring your unwanted tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs to either the lobby of the Ocean City Free Library (1735 Simpson Ave.) or the Ocean City Police Department (835 Central Ave.).

This event has helped Americans get rid of old, unwanted or expired medications that can become a gateway to addiction for more than a decade.

Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage.

In partnership with local law enforcement, Take Back Day has removed more than 8,300 tons of medication from circulation since its inception.
