Early Morning Fire Extinguished At Popular Jersey Shore Restaurant, Officials Say

The fire was contained to an outbuilding, offficials said.

NORTH CAPE MAY, NJ — An early morning fire at a popular Jersey Shore restaurant is under investigation.

Firefighters arrived at Harpoons on the Bay in North Cape May just before 3 a.m. Wednesday, Townbank Fire Company said.

A detached outbuilding was in flames and the blaze was rapidly spreading to an adjacent tiki bar, the fire company said.

The fire was contained to the building of origin and did not spread to the main restaurant.

Crews extinguished the fire and were on the scene for three hours, the fire company said. Units from Erma, Villas, Cape May, and Rio Grande Fire companies along with the Lower Township Fire Official and the Cape May County Fire Marshall’s Office assisted.

No injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation.
