4.4 Magnitude Earthquake Felt Across New Jersey
An earthquake that originated in Delaware was felt across New Jersey on Thursday.
A large earthquake in Delaware was felt in New Jersey on Thursday, the United States Geological Survey confirmed.
The USGS said a 4.4 magnitude earthquake was detected near Dover at 4:47 p.m. Thursday, but the shakes from the quake were felt nearly across New Jersey.
"It felt like the basement was shifting while the rest of the house swayed," said Joni Passalacqua of Manchester. "The water in the fish tank moved as well."

News12 said New Jersey residents as far north as Bloomfield and East Orange reported feeling the rumblings from the quake. The newsroom was flooded with calls and messages after the quake hit.

Police from Margate, Egg Harbor, Cherry Hill and elsewhere posted on Facebook about it. West Windsor sent a Nixle alert:

"Minor Earthquake was reported in the area...Please only use 911 if there are emergencies and not to report damage. More information to follow and confirmation if this actually was a tremor."
It was too early to tell if there was any damage from the quake, but there was plenty of chatter on social media.
