Irish Hooley

Repertory Theater Plans ‘Irish Hooley’ Celebration

OCEAN CITY, NJ - The Ocean City Repertory Theater will host “An Irish Hooley” to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year.

“We wanted to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and the joy of being Irish, or even Irish for a day,” said Flossi Micciolo, founder and artistic director. “The event will have food, music, song, dance, storytelling, good conversation and irresistible merriment.”

Micciolo pointed out that Ireland has produced some of the greatest writers, poets, musicians and artists the world has seen.

“An Irish Hooley celebrates this artistic achievement,” she said. “So we welcome people to join us at the Repertory Theater and take to the dance floor, pick up their instruments, clear their throats and sharpen their ears for hilarious storytelling or a serious poem, and some unbridled fun.”

Rachel McGettigan, Angelica Mathis and Kameron Ghanavatti, accompanied by Andrew Hink, will perform audience favorites including Irish ballads and songs. The Jersey Shore Irish Dancers, led by Ed and Bonnie Quigley, will entertain the audience with jigs and reels. Repertory Theater actors will read excerpts from Irish poetry, plays and short stories.

The show will be performed at the OC Repertory Theater, 813 Asbury Ave., March 17. The show will start at 8 p.m. Tickets will be offered at the door for $10 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Repertory Theater's artistic and education programs.
