Local Author Mary Ann Bolen "The Ocean City Bucket List"

In her new book, The Ocean City Bucket List, Mary Ann Bolen offers an up-close look at her hometown, and challenges readers to complete all 100 of the book’s
essential Ocean City experiences.

“This town is so much more than the beach and boardwalk that await us at the end of the street,” said Bolen, a year-round Ocean City resident with more than five
decades worth of sand in her shoes. “How many people have seen the ‘doll houses’ on Wovern Place or know the origin of the term ‘shoobie?’”

Ocean City wraps her loved ones in an annual cocoon of
summertime essentials: a favorite pizza place, a favorite ride and a favorite rocking chair on a front porch that becomes a family’s headquarters.

“But have you become trapped in tradition, or have you truly experienced all that Ocean City has to offer?” Bolen asks.

A conversation on her front porch with a longtime visitor
made her realize how many people simply scratch the surface of this beloved
island.

"Like kids at the beach, we should all dig deeper,” she
said. “So get started on The Ocean City Bucket List – and feel free to add your own favorites at the end.”
