Fast Storm and Tides Flood Ocean City Streets
A strong thunderstorm hit the island about 4 p.m. as the tide approached high.
Heavy rain from a quick thunderstorm coincided with high tide on Tuesday to leave many Ocean City streets flooded with knee-deep water.
A line of strong thunderstorms moved across New Jersey and hit Ocean City around 4 p.m. dumping a few inches of rain in just a half-hour.
The stormwater had nowhere to drain as high tide hit the ocean side of Ocean City at 4:58 p.m. and the Ninth Street Bridge in the bay side at 5:31 p.m.

Visitors reported wading through knee-deep water to get to the Boardwalk ramps downtown, and drivers watched kayakers paddle on the side streets off the main thoroughfares of West and Bay avenues.
