Final Phase Of Ocean City Boardwalk Reconstruction Project Begins Monday

The boardwalk will be closed between 10th and 12th streets as of Oct. 16.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Boardwalk will be closed between 10th Street and 12th Street beginning on Monday, Oct. 16, as the fifth and final phase of the five-year reconstruction project begins, according to city officials. The entire project area will close as of Oct. 23.

This phase of the project includes the demolition and replacement of the entire substructure and decking between 10th Street and 12th Street. The goal of the overall project is to replace the boardwalk between Fifth Street and 12th Street. The project is expected to be complete by the end of March.

The boardwalk entrance at 10th Street will be closed as part of the work, but there will still be access to all stores between Ninth Street and 10th Street, officials said. Pedestrians and cyclists traveling the length of the boardwalk will be detoured at Ninth Street (to Ocean Avenue) and back onto 12th Street.
