City Council will meet two days earlier than usual, on Tuesday night, 7 p.m. at city hall.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — There will be a public hearing and final vote on an $18.4 million spending plan when Ocean City Council meets Tuesday night. Ocean City Council’s meeting comes two days early this week, on Tuesday night, May 24, 7 p.m. at city hall. The council meeting was moved from its traditional Thursday night slot ahead of Memorial Day Weekend.
The proposed ordinance up for a final vote Tuesday night calls for the appropriation of $18,466,000 and the borrowing of $17,542,700 in bonds or notes for various improvement projects throughout Ocean City.
In February, council unanimously approved a bond ordinance on second reading to appropriate $12,182,500 and borrow $11,573,375 in bonds and notes for various improvements. If the spending plan is approved Tuesday night, the total amount bonded for Ocean City projects this year is about $31 million.

When the proposal was unanimously approved on introduction on May 11, Councilman Keith Hartzell reminded residents this is part of the capital plan to spend $112 million on improvements throughout the island over the next five years, and not in addition to it. He also noted that each project will receive further scrutiny prior to final approval and the start of each project.
Ocean City Council will also consider a proposed ordinance on introduction to accept city property known as Block 611.11, Lots 59 and 60, and Block 3100, Lot 1, as a gift from Richard Bocelli, the executor the estate of the late Elizabeth K. Bocelli. To view a map of the proposed gift, visit the agenda packet.
