Ocean City Fireworks 2016: A Complete Guide

The party begins with a patriotic concert at the Music Pier Sunday night.

Ocean City, NJ -- Independence Day is this weekend, and the party begins Sunday night in Ocean City.

The Ocean City Pops will "Celebrate America" with a patriotic concert at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, 8 p.m.

Special guests include Broadway star Nicolas Dromard and conductor Brett Rowe. There will be performances "America the Beautiful," "Armed Forces Salute," "Stars and Stripes Forever" and other iconic American favorites.

Ocean City has plenty of ways to celebrate on Independence Day itself, capped by a brilliant fireworks display.

The display will light up the night sky beginning at 10 p.m. Fireworks will be set off from a barge on the Music Pier (Moorlyn Terrace/Ninth Street) and will be visible from the beach and the boardwalk.

Tidal Wave Band will perform in front of the Music Pier one hour prior to and one hour after fireworks.

Before that, there is plenty to do.

The kite festival begins at 6 p.m. on the beach next to the Music Pier. There will be a yo-yo demonstration and contest at 8 p.m., followed by a hula hoop contest at 8:30 p.m.

There are also a pair of bike parades planned for the Fourth of July.

Sponsored by the South OC Improvement Association, one parade takes place at 10 a.m. on 40th and Asbury, with registration at 9 a.m.

The other, sponsored by the Gardens Civic Association, takes place at the Longport Bridge parking lot at 10 a.m., with registration at 9 a.m.
