Fishing and Fire Engines Highlight Charity Fishing Event in Ocean City

Over 140 children turned out for the Ocean City Marlin and Tuna Club and the Ocean City Yacht Club's 24th annual charity fishing event.

Over 140 children, along with their parents and brothers and sisters, turned out for the Ocean City Marlin and Tuna Club and the Ocean City Yacht Club’s 24th annual charity fishing event on Sunday, event organizers said.

The event was for children from the Philadelphia Variety Club Camp, the local Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the Horsham Kids Challenge Baseball League.

A total of 25 sports fishing boats owned by members from the two clubs arrived at the Yacht Club to pick up the families and take them to fishing areas in the Great Egg Harbor Bay and the ocean off Ocean City. After a morning of fishing, they returned to weigh in their fish, have their pictures taken and eat a picnic lunch.
