Five Things to Know About Thursday's Council Meeting in Ocean City
The State Historic Commission is planning a presentation to council and the City sold a bond for $28,950,000.

Ocean City Council approved an ordinance on first reading to give the City more power to handle abandoned and vacant properties on Thursday night.
Here are some other issues that were discussed during Thursday night’s meeting:
- The City recently sold a bond for $28,950,000, effective June 18. The bond’s maturity rate is .465 percent.
- There were 47 tax appeals in Ocean City this year. That represents 42/100 of a percent, according to Ocean City Business Administrator Jim Mallon. The City also sold 152,500 beach tags by Memorial Day, generating $2.05 million in revenue.
- Representatives from the New Jersey State Historic Commission recently toured the Historic District in Ocean City, and would like to make a presentation to City Council, according to Council Vice President Michael Allegretto. That presentation will be made during a workshop on July 16.
- Former City Business Administrator Michael Dattilo will provide an update on all projects in the First Ward during a Ward Meeting on June 24 at the Bayside Center, 7 p.m. Residents will be able to ask questions before proceeding with the general meeting, Councilman Michael DeVlieger said.
- Councilman Antwan McClellan announced that a Second Ward Meeting is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 20, at the Eighth Street Recreation Center.
