Flooding Expected Through 3 High Tides In Ocean City

A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect for Ocean City Tuesday evening through Wednesday night. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect on Wednesday.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect for Ocean City Tuesday evening through Wednesday night, the National Weather Service announced. A Winter Storm Watch also will be in effect throughout Wednesday.

A strong coastal storm will affect Ocean City through at least three high tide cycles, city officials announced in a Special Weather Statement Monday morning. Water levels are expected to peak in the hours around high tide on the bay side of Ocean City at about 11:19 p.m. Tuesday 11:49 a.m. Wednesday, and 12:08 a.m. Thursday. Minor to moderate flooding is possible through the three progressively higher tides.

Residents should monitor conditions and be prepared to move vehicles from areas that typically experience flooding. The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are at higher elevation. Parking will be available at the Trinity United Methodist Church at 20 North Shore Road in Marmora. The Winter Storm Watch predicts mixed precipitation with some snow accumulation on Wednesday. Strong northeast winds of 30 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected. For police and fire emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, call 609-399-9111.
