Free workshop helps parents recognize signs of drug & alcohol use

Parents and guardians in Lower Township are encouraged to attend an upcoming workshop on identifying the warning signs of a minor using drugs or alcohol.

The presentation “Hidden in Plain Sight” will prepare parents to spot the clues and behaviors that could indicate a problem. Attendees also will receive guidance on what to do if they discover a child is using a substance.

Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent Tim McMahon will lead the event on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the Millman Center on Bayshore Road. The expert insight will help parents recognize whether their children might be using drugs or alcohol.

The event is sponsored by the DEA and the Lower Township Healthy Youth Coalition -- a community initiative of Cape Assist -- and funded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

The LTHYC is dedicated to reducing substance misuse among youth in the municipality.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. Seating is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
