Fugitive From Pennsylvania Arrested in Cape May County

A Pennsylvania man was arrested in Cape May County on charges of criminal trespassing and obstruction of justice, Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and North Wildwood Police Chief Matthew Gallagher said Tuesday afternoon.

Philadelphia Police contacted the North Wildwood Police Department on Monday in connection with an active arrest warrant for 23-year-old Jamik Washington, of Bensalem, Pa.

They believed Washington was staying at a home on the 200 block of West 18th Avenue. North Wildwood Police went to the address provided, and saw a man matching Washington’s description. That man refused to come to the door when they went to his house.

Members of the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team, the county Crisis Negotiations Team, and members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office responded to the scene. After eight hours of negotiations, he eventually surrendered.

He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center pending extradition to Pennsylvania.
