Gillian Reelected To Fourth Term: Ocean City Election 2022

According to unofficial results, Mayor Jay Gillian was reelected in Ocean City's 2022 municipal election.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Jay Gillian has been reelected to his fourth term as Ocean City's mayor, according to unofficial results from Cape May County Election Departments.

The unofficial results show Gillian getting 2,299 total votes, compared to challenger Keith Hartzell's 1,893.

"I want to thank you all for your help, support and hard work. I am humbled by the support of our community and honored to serve as your mayor," Gillian said in a statement shared to his campaign Facebook page. "Now it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get to work on four more years of progress. Thanks again."

Incumbents Pete Madden and Karen Bergman, along with political newcomer John A. "Tony P" Polcini were elected to the three at-large City Council seats, according to the unofficial results.

The three ran on the ballot together. Madden received 1,945 votes, Polcini 1,980 and Bergman received 2,267 votes.

Out of 9,633 registered voters, 4,274 ballots were cast, giving this election a 44 percent voter turnout.
