Girl, 6, Drowns In Jersey Shore Motel Pool

WILDWOOD, NJ — A young girl vacationing from Pennsylvania died after drowning in a pool at a Jersey Shore motel on Saturday, police said.

According to the Wildwood Police Department, the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. in the pool at the Nantucket Inn & Suites on Ocean Avenue in Wildwood.

Police said the 6-year-old victim was swimming in the pool with family when she unknowingly went into the deep end. She was located several minutes later.

When police arrived, people at the motel were giving her CPR. Wildwood Rescue took over treatment and transported the girl to Cape Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead several hours later.

"At this time there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this incident and the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division continues to investigate," police said.

The victim's name has not been released.
