OCEAN CITY, NJ — Two good samaritans rescued a semi-conscious swimmer on an Ocean City beach Thursday evening. The swimmer was taken to Shore Medical Center out of caution, police said. There has been no official update on the unidentified swimmer's condition since that point.

Jordan Geller was with a friend, Angelo Tridente, who was surfing on the beach by Brighton Place at about 6:40 p.m. Then a friend of the swimmer alerted them. The swimmer was about 100 yards out in the ocean, struggling as head-high waves crashed over.

Geller and Tridente dashed out on Tridente's surfboard. Tridente put the swimmer on the board, so he would not pull them under. Other surfers had arrived by then. He was pulled ashore. The swimmer was semi-conscious and coughing up water.

Geller called 911, and officials took the swimmer to Shore Medical Center in Somers Point. Police said there would be no further investigation.

Ocean City's guarded beaches are staffed with lifeguards from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends. The Ocean City Beach Patrol strongly urges people to only swim at guarded beaches.
