Great American Chicken Company Opens at Eighth and Ocean

An affordable option for sit-down or takeout meals opened Feb. 24 at the corner of Eighth Street and Ocean Avenue.

The Great American Chicken Company specializes in skinless fried chicken, deep-fried pickle chips and Philly cheesesteaks (on fresh Liscio's rolls).

Chris and Christine Pirone operated a successful restaurant of the same name in Arizona and decided to start again in Ocean City. The Pirones are originally from Bridgewater, NJ, and moved back to the state so Christine could help take care of her father.

The Pirones renovated a corner spot that was formerly home to a chicken-and-rib restaurant and the Red Raider Deli and Grill. 

The new restaurant features both sit-down and takeout service, and it will provide deliveries in the summer.

Pirone said he aims to provide an affordable menu — with the highest-priced item being a 16-piece meal combo that can feed a family of five for $27.99.

The skinless fried chicken comes in two varieties: regular or cajun. The menu also features a variety of wraps, wings and seafood.

The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week. Pirone will extend hours for the summer.
