Hazardous weather is expected to come to New Jersey this week as the state gets its first real taste of winter, forecasters say.

Most of New Jersey likely will not need the snow shovels yet, but you could encounter some slippery driving as all communities are expected to get some or all of the following this week: rain, freezing rain and/or snow.

The coldest air of the season so far is set to dive into the northeastern United States this weekend, with the warmth New Jersey is expected to have on Election Day, Wednesday and Thursday abruptly interrupted starting on Friday, according to AccuWeather.

A cold front will dive southward on Friday, causing temperatures behind it to plummet well below normal for the weekend. "A brisk northwest wind will bring an early December-like chill to the Northeast this weekend," AccuWeather Meteorologist Max Vido said in an AccuWeather release.

The National Weather Service has not issued an advisory yet, but the agency has said that snow could touch some of the state's northern counties by Friday, with rain falling in the rest of North Jersey.
