Human Remains Found In Woods In Jersey Shore Town
A county resident discovered what appeared to be a human skull in a wooded area of Whitesboro, leading to a multi-agency search.
MIDDLE TWP., NJ — What appeared to be a human skull was discovered in a wooded area of the Whitesboro section of Middle Township on Tuesday, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office said.
The discovery was reported immediately to the Middle Township Police Department.
Following the report, a coordinated search of the surrounding area was conducted, authorities said. Investigators from the Middle Township Police Department, the Lower Township Police Department, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office, the Cape May County Land Search and Rescue Team and the New Jersey Department of Corrections Land Search and Rescue Team participated in the search.

As a result of the search, skeletal remains believed to be those of an adult were located and recovered, authorities said. A positive identification of the remains has not yet been made.
Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland of the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office said that the investigation remains ongoing. He added that additional information will be released as it becomes available and that there is no threat to the public at this time.

Sutherland urges anyone with information regarding this investigation to come forward. He also encourages individuals with information about any illegal activity within the community to submit an anonymous tip.
