The concert is March 5 in Atlantic City.

Ocean City, NJ -- The Humane Society of Ocean City will host a benefit concert featuring Jeffrey Gaines on Saturday, March 5, at Chickie’s & Pete’s at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, 7 p.m.

South Jersey resident Mara Justine, who made it to the final round of America’s Got Talent in 2014 at the age of 11, will be the opening act.

“All proceeds from the concert will go to our Bud Fund, which helps us bring in animals with special needs and provide them with the care they require in order for them to find their forever homes,” Humane Society of Ocean City Executive Director Bill Hollingsworth said.

The Humane Society started the fund in 2009 to help pay the medical expenses for a pug that was suffering from limited mobility to a back injury, and needed back surgery.

The Humane Society transferred the pug from a local shelter.

After Bud was adopted, the extra money raised was then used to create the fund to help other animal residents with special needs.

The Humane Soceity continues to fund raise in Bud’s name to help offset veterinary costs for current and future shelter residents.

Money from the fund was used this week to save an animal’s life.

On Tuesday, Bud Fund member Rosco was rushed to the Humane Society’s Veterinary Clinic for emergency surgery.

Staff noticed he was vomiting and not eating. Veterinarian, Dr. Moberg took X-rays that revealed he had a large piece of blanket lodged in his intestines.

Surgery was successful, and Rosco is recovering well and back to his normal self.

Concert tickets are $35, and include the shows, Chickie’s and Pete’s signature crab fries, nachos, and pizza as well as drink specials.
