Update: Jody Levchuk Wins Ocean City Council Race
Ocean City's next City Council will have two new members.

Update: The vote totals held in the official results Wednesday, with Jody Levchuk winning the Third Ward race.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — Jody Levchuk holds a slight lead over Anthony Wilson as of Friday afternoon in the race for Ocean City Council. The results are not yet official, Cape May County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti told Patch.
Levchuk leads Wilson for the Third Ward council position, 573 votes to 559, the County announced at 12:26 p.m. Friday. But Fulginiti says results might not be declared official until Monday.

Despite the results remaining unofficial, Levchuk declared victory Friday.
"We have a lot of work ahead," Levchuk said in a statement. "Getting businesses reopened, dealing with a new normal, and of course, tackling all of the other challenges the city faced before Covid-19 made its mark. I am not scared of hard work or long hours."

Wilson will await the final tally but spoke fondly on his eight years with City Council.
"Rita’s obviously going to have the last say for the final tally, whatever it is going to be," Wilson told Patch. "Win, lose or draw, I can tell you we had a great run here in Ocean City, we have a legacy that will last for decades, we taught my kids the value of giving back to your community and it was a pleasure to serve."
The other three City Council ward elections were uncontested. Incumbents Michael DeVlieger (First Ward) and Bobby Barr (Fourth Ward) are set to retake their positions, while Tom Rotondi is set to take the Second Ward set.
Only 10 votes separated Levchuk and Wilson on Tuesday, the deadline for voting. The election was entirely vote-by-mail because of the coronavirus.
New members would begin July 1 with City Council. Rotondi takes the City Council seat that became vacant in January after Antwan McClellan was elected to state assembly.
