Kite Surfer Missing Off Ocean City Has Been Found

Update: The kite surfer paddled to safety and enjoyed his Thanksgiving.

Update: The kite surfer was found, Ocean City police announced Friday afternoon. He experienced technical difficulties, so he cut the kite and paddled to safety.

The kite surfer was unaware of the rescue efforts, so he went about his Thanksgiving.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Coast Guard is searching for a missing kite surfer near Ocean City, the agency announced Thursday. The USCG received a 911 call at about 3:20 p.m. Thursday saying someone was drifting out to see after falling off a kiteboard about 500 yards off Corsons Inlet.

First responders were quickly dispatched, but no person was found, according to Ocean City police. They only found a black and white "Ocean Rodeo Cypher 10" kite.

OCPD, who is assisting with the investigation, hasn't received a missing-persons report from friends or family. No property or vehicles were found on the beach or in the area.
