Kmart in Somers Point To Close Permanently

Liquidation sales begin mid-September, while the store plans to close by mid-December, a spokesperson said.

SOMERS POINT, NJ — Kmart in Somers Point will close permanently, according to a store spokesperson. Liquidation sales will begin mid-September, and the store will close by mid-December, said Kmart spokesperson Larry Costello.

Four Kmarts in New Jersey are set to close in that span. The Trenton, Wall and Wayne stores will also shut down. Customers can still shop on kmart.com.

Parent company Sears Holdings has been closing Sears and Kmart stores around the country. The Hoffman Estates, Illinois-based company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October, announcing the closure of 142 unprofitable locations at the time.

Sears Holdings announced another 80 closures to Kmart and Sears stores last December. The stores were scheduled to close by late March. Read more: Toms River Kmart To Close

The Somers Point Plaza is open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
