Leap Second Kindness Suggestion From Ocean City Resident
This year an extra second, or leap second, will be added. Why not use that time for something good?

I wish more people would get involved with helping and thinking more about what they can do for others. Just read an article in National Geographic about the extra leap year second that will be added to this year.
What if we all pledged to help someone else with that extra time? It's not hard, and there are lots of amazing ways to do this. Some even mix team spirit and global involvement with charity.
For example, GISHWHES is an organization that encourages people around the world to make a positive difference.

Teams like the ARGonuts come together to practice random acts of kindness in the form of a scavenger hunt focused on spending time to do positive community acts. That's just a small group of people doing good acts for a week.
What if for that 1 extra Leap Second, everyone spent time doing something good for someone else. Think of the difference we could make in our lives and community.

Sure, it sounds silly, doing good for a second? But if you start with a second, then it is not too hard to add another second, and another. And you start talking about this crazy idea with others and it gets them thinking about doing good. Soon, you've got a whole 'lotta good seconds of things being done.
Let's plan to use that extra second this year doing something good for someone else. Spread the word and start those acts of kindness. Ready, set, GO! #LeapSecondKindness
