'Legally Blonde: The Musical' Comes To Ocean City This Weekend

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Select high school students from across the Delaware Valley will perform in the Ocean City Theatre Company’s Junior Company production of “Legally Blonde: The Musical.” Performances are Friday, July 20, and Saturday, July 21, at the Ocean City Music Pier, 7:30 p.m. each night.

Based on the hit movie by the same name starring Reese Witherspoon, “Legally Blonde: The Musical” follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. It is action packed with memorable songs and dynamic dances.

Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle generously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors, and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.

The Ocean City Theatre Company’s Junior Company auditions students from 6th — 12th grade, from Ocean City and its surrounding areas, and allows them to work with a professional production staff to create hands-on performing opportunities.

Participants take part in classes, rehearse and perform a full-scale musical with professional designers and directors. “Legally Blonde: The Musical” features students in the High School Junior Company. It is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
