Let’s Roll - The LTHYC Skates the Night Away St. Patty’s Day Style

Cape May, NJ – Over 75 Cape May County residents gathered at the Cape May Convention Hall to enjoy some roller-skating fun just before St. Patrick's Day, Thursday, March 16. Festivities were run by the Lower Township Healthy Youth Coalition (LTHYC), an initiative of Cape Assist focused on helping educate youth about prevention and mental health.

The event invited youth and their families to not only skate but celebrate -- with their best St. Patty’s Day attire. Refreshments were provided throughout the night, as well as opportunities for prizes and giveaways. The LTHYC presented first, second and two third place prizes for the best green wearing, shamrock showing, gold shining participants on eight wheels.

Out of the rink, youth and families were able to meet with members of the LTHYC, Cape Assist, and Cape May County Police Department. Lower Cape Municipal Alliance, The Quit Center, and County Sheriff’s Office helped sponsor the LTHYC’s free event.

“Events like these prove that we’re striving for more than just awareness and recovery. While those two things are important parts of our mission, it takes a village to bring those efforts to life,” said Katie Faldetta, Cape Assist’s Executive Director and CEO. “We get to make memories with our community. We get to leave a mark that reminds them we are here for laughter and smiles – not just the hard parts - in the good times and the bad.”

The Lower Township Healthy Youth Coalition is always working to help educate youth about prevention, mental health, and building community through events similar to Skate Night.
